Agenda for General Meeting on January 28
|
The Executive Committee agreed to the following agenda:
Additionally, McKeever reviewed Executive Committee responsibilities for the General Meeting. |
| Newsletter | McKeever and Schriner reviewed requirements for advertising for the newsletter. Stuart volunteered to work with Schriner to get the advertising lined up for this year. Schriner reviewed with the Executive Committee how to submit articles to him any formatting should be saved as an RTF file. Included in the newsletter will be the annual member survey. Kalk volunteered to revise it. McKeever sent out a call for residents to help with distribution and received 15 responses that will make distribution much more manageable. |
| BHNA Handbook |
Howie Richey has agreed to edit the manuscript. The Executive Committee hopes to have prototype copies ready for the January 28 meeting. Highlights will be featured in the newsletter. |
| Guest Speakers | PARD will send staff to discuss the Zilker Trail loop project and to review the upcoming improvements set to start this spring. Park Police will send a representative to explain the Park Rangers program and gauge BHNAs support for a Greenbelt Rangers program. |
| Guardians | Glee Ingram will present her proposal to develop a Greenbelt Guardians program. These volunteers will be trained by BHNA and city staff to perform trails maintenance including trash pick-up and assisting city staff in removing non-native, invasive species. Ingram envisions four events each year. |
| Austin City Limits | Gentle will prepare a resolution on behalf of BHNA to the city in support of the Austin City Limits music festival scheduled to run again in September. |
| Betty Brown Memorial | Long time Barton Hills residents have proposed establishing some kind of memorial to recognize the significant contributions the late Betty Brown made to Barton Hills and to BHNA. The Executive Committee considered several ideas included a bench along Town Lake, Robert E Lee, or the Greenbelt, or naming a part of the trail in her memory. Hess will investigate some options and report back to the Executive Committee in March. |
| City Council Elections | The Executive Committee discussed option of holding a candidate forum in conjunction with Zilker Neighborhood Association. McKeever will contact them. The mayoral and 3 council seats are up this election. We looked at April 22 as a possible date for a forum. [Hess also suggested possibility of a joint Executive Committee meeting with Zilker.] |
| BHNA Signs | Carl Newsome has donated five new signs for BHNA to use to publicizing meetings throughout the neighborhood. All agreed that they look great! |
